Our Story
There are times in college as well as a life where obstacles will be thrown in your path. You're experiencing new-found freedom and responsibilities. We know all of this can be a bit overwhelming. With MinorHouze Collegiate Services, we've thought of everything! Communities and education go hand in hand. Together, we can support off-campus students by providing housing, food and essential household needs to those living off-campus. Our belief is that if you provide stability to transitioning students, retention and ultimately, graduation rates will increase; thus expanding the alumni network worldwide. In order to become the next greatest leader, you're going to need help. Let MinorHouze Collegiate Services help guide you through this transitional time to graduation.
Who We Are
A young Black female-led organization based out of Cleveland, Ohio has created MHCS to aid sophomores to seniors, student-athletes, nursing students, multicultural students, Greek life, LGBTQIA, low income, single parents, and graduate students alike. We serve this unique grouping of students due to likely academic and life transitional circumstances. It is our duty to assure these students have every resource and support system necessary to get them to graduation. Think of MHCS as your stepping stones to success!
Our Vision
To serve:
-
College Students

-
Colleges & Universities

-
Housing Companies

-
Partnerships on a local, regional and national level

Our vision is to engender off-campus reform by providing the basic needs of food and shelter. We aim to strengthen communities within college towns between universities and local businesses through various partnership opportunities. MHCS creates sustainable housing options for universities to satisfy the supply and demand of off-campus student housing.
WhatÂ
We
Offer
College Students
Students are required to complete an 8 week Life Transitional workshop, complete 220 community service hours (55 hours/semester) throughout the program, maintain a part-time job/paid internship of at least 20 hours a week, and meet twice a month with their in-house program liaisons.
The Students' benefits include networking, exclusive job fairs with national partners, reduced housing, food & household monthly stipend, textbook, and course-related materials.
Colleges & Universities
MCHS partners with trade schools, community colleges, Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs), Predominately White Institutions (PWI) by facilitating lucrative partnerships customized for your needs, including student housing to service your student body. We work with schools to restructure financial aid for those qualifying students, thus increasing student retention and graduation rates.
Student Housing
Student culture plays a key role in any college experience. We’ve created an alternative option to safe and accessible student housing where students are encouraged to discuss ideas, collaborate on projects, share their work, and receive feedback from fellow students and in house program liaisons. MHCS student housing is created on campuses that have limited housing companies within college towns. We give students the resources to establish a stable foundation to bring their potential to life.
Housing Companies
MHCS partners with local housing companies within college towns. These partnerships ensure off-campus college students have reliable housing while the university foots the bill. By working directly with colleges & universities, housing companies will be guaranteed occupants for two years with rent covered through each student's financial aid.
Partnerships
Partnering with local, regional, and national businesses and organizations allows students to gain access to vital resources, exclusive job fairs, and hiring sessions. This provides businesses and organizations to establish rapport with the creme of the crop students upon graduation, to secure business' next future leaders.
Why
Us
College Town Cohesion
Bringing colleges & universities, housing companies, and partnerships together stimulates the college town economy.
Multi-level Support
Having an in-person program liaison who works with the students, housing companies, colleges & universities provides multi-level support. It is vital to student retention to know that there are resources at their disposal.
In-house Liaisons
In-House Program Liaisons are dedicated to being the advocate for student concerns as it pertains to academic/life circumstances. These liaisons report to administrators, professors, health services, financial aid, and program housing representatives.
Customizable Services
Working with MHCS grants each participant customized services. Schools can choose housing companies, partnerships can choose campuses to support and students choose housing companies. By providing flexible options, we service the needs of everyone while still ensuring our student's academic success is our top priority.
Increased Student Retention
Colleges and universities will retain students and have higher graduation rates which will turn into alumni donations. By supporting MHCS, you are investing in student success which inevitably sustains and revitalizes communities.
